  1. a. I felt Marks background was a little busy, as someone blessed with ADHD it gave me many objects to distract from the message being presented. It might work in my industry as not all are as easily distracted as myself. If there is a bookcase in the background I often find myself trying to read the titles.
    b. A good internet connection, proper lighting and a camera at the proper height. One of my pet peeves (besides not having the camera on) are those fake backgrounds that keep shifting everytime the person moves (I can handle a company logo as long as it is simple).
    c. My background is my normal office setting. What you see is what you get. I have no intention of transporting you to a vacation spot. My office, like my home looks worked or lived in. I will be moving my laptop higher so it doesn't look like I am always looking down.
    d. Gestures that are fully captured within the screen work well. A gesture that starts or finishes outside of view are often lost in translation

  2. MY ANSWERS

    1) My overall impression of Mark is he is an outgoing confident professional who KNOWS his stuff! Could his teachings be used in my workplace? Absolutely! I think it would benefit my workplace if he did a workshop either in person or sent materials we could view as a team and learn, listen at the very least.

    2) Some things mentioned to improve a background while having online meetings are: proper lighting, have the camera adjusted properly to individual height, having a good internet connection helps lots!

    3) Am I inspired to change anything in my background? Yes! I will make sure I put a smiley face stickie by my camera to ensure I am looking at rather than up or down at anyone and make sure my lighting is good.

    4) In my humble opinion, gentle open hand palm gestures, eye contact and moving the head or standing up and moving around, having a tidy yet fun background while presenting can help what I am doing in an online meeting.

    -Open palm gestures

    - Movement

    -Visual inviting background
