Please note: The term "open-enrolment" applies to all of our programs which are offered on pre-determined dates throughout the year, and open to all who meet the program entry requirements.

Program Information

Program participants will be notified by email prior to class with information on classroom location, login information (if applicable), parking, and other details

Non-attendance

It is you/the learner's responsibility to ensure that you/they can attend each program date and time. Missing a program date/time will result in not receiving the Certificate of Completion and digital credential (if applicable). Health Leadership & Learning Network is not obligated to provide any make-up sessions or transfers. Should non-attendance occur, see our policies: https://hlln.info.yorku.ca/policy/

Non-Degree and Non-Credit HLLN Programs

All programs are offered as non-degree and non-credit and cannot be used towards a degree at York University or any other university. Each participant that attends all programs dates and completes and passes all assignments and assessments, as they might be assigned during the program will receive a certificate of completion and digital credentials (if applicable).

Please note all programs have been designed according to Canadian standards. York University and HLLN do not warrant compliance with any other standards, and International professionals are advised to confirm with your national/local boards, ministries, organizations or any authorized institution, if HLLN's programs content comply with your countries' practices and standards.

The Wound Care Certificate and the IV Infusion Therapy Certificate (only) are currently not accepting applications from students residing outside of Canada - This might change in the future!

Professional Certificates

For Health Coach Professional Certificate and Patient Navigation Professional Certificate which includes several short courses, individuals have up to 18 months from the onset of the first course to complete the Professional Certificate. 

Changes to Programs

HLLN reserves the right to make alterations to the advertised program information including, but not limited to the program fee (incl. other fees e.g. transfer & cancellation fees,etc), dates, locations, speakers, and content.

We will make every effort to present the program as advertised but it may be necessary to change the dates, locations, speakers, or content with little or no notice.

Fees, dates, locations, speakers, and content are subject to change.

What the Program Fee Covers

Unless otherwise stated, the program fee includes instruction and program materials only. HLLN program fees do not include, and HLLN is NOT responsible for, travel/transportation costs, accommodation costs, food costs (unless confirmed by the HLLN team), parking costs, long-distance charges, internet service provider charges, and other charges associated with attending our programs.

Regarding Supplemental resources for programs that have a practical component  - Wound Care Certificate and IV and infusion Therapy Certificate only: HLLN makes every attempt to ensure that your course supply packages for any practical components arrive before your program starts. These packages are sent out well in advance of the program start date based on Canada Post's estimated delivery times. Your package may be late due to circumstances at Canada Post that are beyond our control

Discount Policy

Discounts cannot be combined. Discounts may change at the discretion of HLLN. Any and all open enrolment fees and discounts, and group rates, noted in this policy, on the HLLN website, promotional information, or otherwise stated, are not applicable to in-house programs, tailored or customized in-house programs.

Internationally Trained Professionals(incl. IENs, IMGs,etc)

  • International professionals/students residing within Canada :

Internationally trained professionals residing within Canada  (e.g. IENs, IMGs, others) are welcome to apply to our programs if they meet program entry requirements.

Please note,  all our programs:

  • Are offered online, so students can take them from wherever they are.
  • Fees are in Canadian dollars, as advertised on program website
  • Time sessions are in Eastern Standard Time (EDT)
  • They have been designed according to Canadian standards. York University and HLLN do not warrant compliance with any other standards, and International professionals are advised to confirm with your national/local boards, ministries, organizations, or any authorized institution, if HLLN's programs content comply with your countries' practices and standards.

All registration forms must be complete before they will be accepted by HLLN. If paying by credit card, the card holder's signature MUST be on the registration form and a separate form must be filled out for each registrant.

Registration fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Registration Deadline for Programs

If you reside within Canada:

  • Registration forms and fees must be received by the HLLN office no later than 4:30pm EDT,  7 business days prior to the start date of the program and Full Payment is due
  • HLLN must have 15% of the program fee or $150, whichever is higher, plus 13%HST, to reserve a seat.
  • For deposits,  any outstanding balances owed for courses will be collected on the 1st of the month in which the course runs, or the 1st of the previous month if the course starts within the first 7 days of the month.
  • HLLN does not accept personal cheques or cash. Payment by credit card or money order only.
  • Non-Canadian dollar denominated credit card fee payments will be subject to foreign exchange rates and fees as determined by the credit card company.
  • Organizations may pay by organization cheque, however York University reserves the right to request another form of payment.
    • Cheques and money orders must be payable to York University - HLLN.
    • Paying by cheque is not available one month prior to program start date.
  • Payment installments/plans: HLLN offers payment plans for students and organizations located within Canada, but please note:
    • Payment plans are not applicable less than 90 days before program start date
    • Payment plans can only be used for courses with a base fee of $1000 or higher
    • Other terms and conditions apply for payment installments/plans, please contact HLLN office at hlln@yorku.ca

If you reside outside of Canada:

  • Registration forms and FULL fees  must be received by the HLLN office no later than 4:30pm EDT, 10 business days prior to the start date of the program start date.
  • Deposit or payment installments do not apply, payment must be in full at registration
  • Payment by credit card only
  • Non-Canadian dollar denominated credit card fee payments will be subject to foreign exchange rates and fees as determined by the credit card company.

Please note:

  • HLLN recommends its students, alumni and community to register as soon as possible to any of its courses.

Discounted group registrations are only open to 2 or more employees of the same organization. If registering as a group, please submit a group registration form.

Certificates of completion and digital credentials are issued approximately three to four weeks after the end of the program, as long as you have :

  • Honors successful completion of HLLN’s programs.
  • Certificates of completion are offered with all HLLN's programs
  • It is a pdf document that indicates that an individual has successfully completed all program mandatory requirements.
  • Certificates of completion are sent to the students by email two to three weeks after program end date.
  • Please note, the certificate of completion does not replace nor is similar to a  digital credential.

The Health Leadership & Learning Network (HLLN) follows the York University Code of Student Conduct and Responsibilities, as it applies to non-degree and non-credit students. Students are expected to maintain a professional relationship characterized by courtesy and mutual respect. This includes

  • The responsibility to behave in a way that does not harm or threaten to harm another person’s physical or mental well-being.
  • The responsibility to uphold an atmosphere of civility, honesty, equity and respect for others, thereby valuing the inherent diversity in our community.
  • The responsibility to consider and respect the perspectives and ideas of others, even when the student does not agree with their perspectives or ideas.

Our programs may feature peer-group discussions and feedback, and in some cases, simulation practice. This code is strictly applied at all times. If you have a concern during the program please direct to the instructor or email us at hlln@yorku.ca and the issue will be investigated. HLLN reserves the right to remove any student who violates our conduct policy.

No recording, video or photo taking is allowed at any time in the classroom or online session, including breaks and lunch due to privacy and intellectual property rights. If you would like to engage in these activities, reserve them for outside of the classroom or online session. HLLN does not provide nor imply permission for these activities on the part of any student registered in an HLLN program, nor on behalf of any instructor. It is the responsibility of the persons involved to obtain permission.

Unless otherwise stated by HLLN on its website or in enrolment information, the following policy on Transfer/Cancellation/Refund is in effect, for open enrolment programs only

Transferring a Registration to a Colleague

All written notice/emails must be submitted on the online form below. Written or verbal notice received by instructors is not valid toward a transfer/cancellation/refund.

  • Transfer requests:
    • Important Note: The term "Transfer" in this section refers to a transfer of a program registration to another session.
    • Al transfer requests for any of the Health Leadership & Learning Network offerings must be submitted in the online form
    • Requests to transfer after the program has started are not permitted.
    • Transfer fees may apply, refer to the table below
    • Transferring a registration to a colleague is free and permitted if written notice/email listing the name, organization, and contact information of both the "original registrant" and the colleague who will be attending in place of the original registrant is received and submitted in the online form, more than 2 business days in advance of the program start date.
      • Please note for the Wound Care Certificate and IV and infusion Certificate only: once HLLN sends the supply packages for the practical components of these program(s), the organization or original registrant will be responsible for the "new registrant" receiving the supply package that was mailed to the "original registrant". HLLN will not be able to send or substitute supply packages.
  • Cancellation requests:
    • All cancellations and refund requests for any of the Health Leadership & Learning Network offerings must be submitted in the online form
    • Requests to cancel after the program has started are not permitted.
    • Group cancellation/refund requests: All of our programs will be subject to the above policy with the understanding that the applicable transfer or cancellation charge will be multiplied by the number of registrants in the group. Non-attendance will incur the full registration fee.
    • Cancellation fees apply, refer to the table below
    • Please note cancellation requests could take a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks to be processed. Do not send the instructor notifications of cancellation and refund requests as they will not be accepted by Health Leadership & Learning Network as a formal request.

Regarding open enrolment programs only

The Health Leadership & Learning Network reserves the right to cancel any program. Programs will not run if they do not have the minimum number of registrants required.

In the event of a program cancellation, York University liability is limited to the reimbursement of paid tuition fees only. Any monies not recovered by an individual in connection to accommodation or travel, long-distance charges, or other expenses, are not reimbursed by York University.

Each registrant will be notified by email prior to the advertised start date of the program and the registration fee will be refunded in full. Refunds for cheques will take 3-4 weeks to arrive.

The Health Leadership & Learning Network and York University are not responsible for any additional costs, including, but not limited to, non-refundable airline or hotel penalties.

Travel Arrangements

Travel Arrangements

Canada offers a wide range of accommodation and activities during your visit. Please note our program fees do not include travel, accommodation or excursions fees.

Learners are expected to make their own their travel arrangements. York University does not endorse any hotel or tour company.
Please review and confirm all cancellation and refund policies from all your service providers, visa and any additional documentation for your visit.  Visa arrangements are the learner’s responsibility.

Requests to make up missed classes/sessions/evaluation/assessments/or similar, or transfers while the program is running, are not permitted under any circumstances and YorkU/HLLN is not obligated to provide an alternate class/session/evaluation/assessment. To make up a class/session/evaluation/assessment or any education session, in a future session offered by HLLN, the full program fee must be paid again. No exceptions
  • No substitutions are allowed after the program start date
  • Written or verbal notice received by instructors is not valid toward a transfer/cancellation/refund.
