Earning the Certificate of Completion

Failure to attend the course dates and/or achieve the learning objectives, as determined by the instructor, can result in you not earning the Certificate of Completion. Refunds are not applicable in this case.

Non-Degree and Non-Credit HLLN Courses and Workshops

All courses and workshops are offered as non-degree and non-credit and cannot be used towards a degree at York University or any other university. No grade is issued for any HLLN course. Each participant that attends all course dates and achieves the learning objectives as determined by the instructor will receive a certificate of completion.

Changes to Courses

HLLN reserves the right to make alterations to the advertised course information including, but not limited to, the course fee, dates, locations, speakers, and content.

We will make every effort to present the course as advertised but it may be necessary to change the dates, locations, speakers, or content with little or no notice.

Fees, dates, locations, speakers, and content are subject to change.

What the Course Fee Covers

Unless otherwise stated, the course fee includes instruction and course materials only. HLLN course fees do not include, and HLLN is NOT responsible for, travel/transportation costs, accommodation costs, food costs, parking costs, long distance charges, internet service provider charges, and other charges associated with attending our courses.

Discount Policy

Discounts cannot be combined. Discounts may change at the discretion of HLLN.

Registration

Registration Forms

All registration forms must be complete before they will be accepted by HLLN. If paying by credit card, the card holder's signature MUST be on the registration form and a separate form must be filled out for each registrant.

Registration Deadline for Courses

Registration forms and fees (excl. International Summer Institutes programs) must be received by the HLLN office no later than 4:30pm five business days prior to the start date of the course.

Registration forms and fees for International Summer Institutes programs  must be received by the HLLN office no later than 4:30pm one month prior to the start date of the course..

Registration fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Group Registrations for Courses

Discounted group registrations are only open to 2 or more employees of the same organization. If registering as a group, each registrant must have their own form and all of the registration forms must be submitted together with the organization's name clearly indicated on each registration form. If group registration forms are received separately, the group rate will not apply.

 

Student Conduct Policy

The Health Leadership and Learning Network (HLLN) follows the York University Code of Student Conduct and Responsibilities, as it applies to non-degree and non-credit students. Students are expected to maintain a professional relationship characterized by courtesy and mutual respect. This includes

  • the responsibility to behave in a way that does not harm or threaten to harm another person’s physical or mental wellbeing
  • the responsibility to uphold an atmosphere of civility, honesty, equity and respect for others, thereby valuing the inherent diversity in our community.
  • the responsibility to consider and respect the perspectives and ideas of others, even when the student does not agree with their perspectives or ideas.

Our courses may feature peer-group discussions and feedback, and in some cases, simulation practice. This code is strictly applied at all times. If you have a concern during the course, please direct to the instructor or email us at hlln@yorku.ca and the issue will be investigated. HLLN reserves the right to remove any student who violates our conduct policy.

No recording, video or photo taking is allowed at any time in the classroom, including breaks and lunch due to privacy and intellectual property rights. If you would like to engage in these activities, reserve them for outside of the classroom. HLLN does not provide nor imply permission for these activities on the part of any student registered in an HLLN program, nor on behalf of any instructor. It is the responsibility of the persons involved to obtain permission.

Substitutions, Voluntary Transfers and Cancellations, & Refunds

Substitutions: Transferring a Registration to a Colleague

Transferring a registration to a colleague is free and permitted if written notice/email listing the name, organization, and contact information of both the original registrant and the colleague who will be attending in place of the original registrant is received in writing/email by hlln@yorku.ca more than 2 business days in advance of the course start date.

Transfers/Cancellations/Refunds

10 or more business days in advance of the course start date The first transfer is free; a subsequent transfer will be subject to a transfer fee of $75. $75

Non-attendance will incur full course cost. Requests to make up missed classes are not permitted under any circumstances. To make up a class in a future session, the full course fee must be paid again.

*All written notice/email must be sent to hlln@yorku.ca. Written or verbal notice received by instructors is not valid towards a transfer/cancellation/refund.

**Requests to transfer after the course has started are not permitted.

***Group cancellation/refund requests will be subject to the above policy with the understanding that the $75 administration charge (if notice is received at least 10 or more business days in advance of the course start date) will be multiplied by the number of registrants in the group. Non-attendance will incur the full registration fee.

All cancellations and refund requests for any of the Health Leadership & Learning Network offerings must be received in writing. Refund requests will be accepted by email to hlln@yorku.ca or by mail.

Course Cancellations

The Health Leadership & Learning Network reserves the right to cancel any course. Courses will not run if they do not have the minimum number of registrants required.

In the event of a course cancellation, York University liability is limited to the reimbursement of paid tuition fees only. Any monies not recovered by an individual in connection to accommodation or travel is not reimbursed by York University.

Each registrant will be notified by email prior to the advertised start date of the course and the registration fee will be refunded in full. Refunds for cheques will take 3-4 weeks to arrive.

The Health Leadership & Learning Network and York University are not responsible for any additional costs, including, but not limited to, non-refundable airline or hotel penalties.
