Digital Credentials

What is a Digital Credential?

HLLN offers its alumni and students the possibility to apply and earn digital credential(s) with any of the following certificates: Patient Navigation Certificate, Advanced Patient Navigation Certificate, Motivational Interviewing Certificate, Cultural Safety for Health Coach and Navigators Certificate, Lifestyle & Wellness Health Coach Certificate and Chronic Disease Management Health Coach Certificate.
*You can apply for the digital credential(s), if you have taken or are planning to take any of the certificate listed above.
A digital credential is an electronic representation of the different types of learning acquired by an individual. Digital credentials are typically issued as a clickable graphic that contains an online record of 1) an achievement, 2) the work required for the achievement, 3) evidence of such work, and  4) information about the issuing organization.
A digital credential comes from a credible source, is encrypted and can be verified by employers with one click. It differs from a traditional credential that is a paper-based representation and more easy to counterfeit. Digital credentials contain meta-data that document how an individual is competent to perform the skills reflected in a specific credential.
Your digital credentials can be hosted on the eCampus Ontario passport or any hosting platform of your choice, and added to your other online pages such as:

  • Digital C.V., personal webpage or blog
  • Social media such as LinkedIn, FaceBook, or share the link directly to your passport profile page.

Our Digital Credentials

Digital credentials are stackable. This mean that a credential can be part of a sequence of credentials that can be accumulated over time to build up an individual’s qualifications and help that individual move along a career pathway to further education, different responsibilities and potentially new roles. Digital credentials you earn at HLLN can be "stacked" towards a professional certificate representing a milestone achievement. You can earn three types of digital credentials: fundamental and advanced skills credentials that highlight a workplace applied or clinical skill, or a professional certificate digital credential that highlights a thematic set of skills needed to perform a specific role.

You may receive 1-2 digital credentials upon completion of a program and a post-program online assessment. These digital credentials can be stacked based on a learning pathway towards a professional certificate.
